Project Done! (Almost)

So, I finished one of the wingback chairs I have been recovering. I would be more excited, except I have one more to go! Here's a pic of what it looks like (it's not the greatest picture since it was taken with a cell phone). I should wait to show BOTH of them finished. But right now I am having a really hard time getting motivated to start on the other one. This was such a big project, more than I anticipated and it's daunting to think of doing it all over again. Jerusha helped me (and by helped, I should say did) the cushion for me. I probably could have figured it out, but it would have taken a LONG time, and she's such a great seamstress. At every phase of the project I would think to myself, "Wow, this is really hard. This must be the hardest part." I think that thought came to my mind a million times. Before I even attempted this project, I asked ladies at fabric stores if they'd ever reupholstered, and I would get comments like, "Oh yes, it's very easy. I recovered a chair in 2 days, blindfolded and with my hands tied behind my back." Which, needless to say, gave me a false sense of ability when I did this project. Michael would probably throw in his 2 cents here that he thinks I have a warped sense of how long it should take to get things done. (One instance he still brings up is when I told him I thought he should be able to install a ceiling fan in a couple of hours after work one day.) Maybe part of my lack of motivation is that I still have 2 bar stools in the garage that I purchased at the DI, intending on refinishing. When I'm done with these wingback chairs... I guess I have to start on those ...

Looks great! I think EVERYONE has a million projects waiting to be completed. But if we did them all, we would have to find new projects!

Judy, It looks great . . . you did great. I can't even get a post done on my blog and you are finishing chairs and posting them for us to see.
I check every ones blogs everyday and now that I am down to a piece of crap computer that is slow as molasses it takes me more time, but I love to see what is going on with everyone.

The chair looks really good. I counted my projects that are waiting to be done and I have well over fifteen big ones. I hope the next chair goes faster.

looks fabulous. I bought a couch at RC willey clearance center for $40 because it was only missing the cushion. I thought I would recover it, bought some foam for the cushion and yet there it sits in Michael's room (I thought it was much smaller in the store). My slipcover half done, no cushion done. Uggg. It is a reminder of too little time and too little motivation. I'm ready to chuck it.

I would love to see the before picture? Doesn't it feel good to finish it and everytime you sit in the chair you will think...I did that.

So beautiful and professional looking! Congratulations on sticking it out long enough to at least finish one chair! I have a big project that I started four years ago and Jared keeps asking me when I think it will be finished. The answer is always, "hopefully in your lifetime, but if you keep harrassing me I'm changing my answer to never."

Good job Judy! Tell Michael to brush up on his ceiling fan skills so we can have a fan-hanging competition someday after we move closer.
