We woke up Sunday morning to snow.
I made "rabbit" for dinner. It's not really rabbit, I don't know how my family grew up calling this stuff rabbit, but we did. All it is is tuna on toast (I guess that's the term for it). My kids LOVE it, but I don't know if I feel like my kids can't handle it, or I don't want to explain it to them, but I don't call it rabbit to my kids. I will say to Michael, "we're having rabbit tonight" and he knows what I'm talking about. But for some reason, maybe because I'm worried Sam may not eat it anymore if I tell him we're having rabbit... Anyway, Sam will eat it and ask for seconds, and then throughout the meal he will say stuff like "I love you Mom" and "I love this" (I think I have mentioned that he gets affectionate when he's happy.)
Sam was trying to figure out who should be first to get something at dinner and said, "Mom you're the oldest" and then Katelyn (my kids are competitive and was trying to outdo Sam I'm sure) says "You're honkin Mom" (with a big smile on her face). I had to say, "thank you" even though it hurt my feelings. I'm feeling a little insecure lately about my size and age!

Ahh makes me miss the snow, almost :) That's funny about the rabbit, it's funny how things are passed down and you don't even know why you call it that. He might think it's funny if you called it rabbit?! You're young and beautiful by the way :)
Lyle is very sad to hear you had snow. He wants to live somewhere where it snows a lot. (Can't he be happy with beaches and sun.) Also it is called rabbit because it is the way we pronounced the German word for the dish. I laughed so hard about the honkin comment. It get it a lot with my kids too. Andy asked me if we had electricty when I was a kid.
The first time I had dinner at the In-Laws, it really was rabbit...try explaining that one! It's a good thing that Grandpa doesn't do that anymore.
We grew up calling that dish SOS. It was what we ate because we were so poor. John and I argue a lot about what it is called. I stick with what I grew up with and so does he. What will we do???

Okay, so I sent you a billion messages of the same thing. I didn't see the tiny print on the top saying you needed to approve it. Sorry. Now I look like an idiot. What else is new?
Grandpa Anderson shortened it to Rabbit, because it was a German dish called "rare-bit' I have no idea who to spell it and we have called it rabbit even since. My kids don't like it, bummer. I love it. I hate tuna, but I love rabbit.
Honkin' made me laugh, my kids constantly say things like that. I remember asking mom if she crossed the plains and now BJ is sure everyone over 20 is ancient . . . not too long before he is an old man if that is the case. Carolee you made me laugh like crazy. Sometimes I hate to write anything because I think I am going to sound like a raving idiot so it is nice to see someone else send something they weren't meaning to, that is usually what I do. Also John is right on this one.
