Swimming Pools...

So, I stumbled upon a blog that I find very funny. It is called http://themeanestmom.blogspot.com/ and I think if one day, she and I met, we might be friends.

But we went swimming this weekend with our kids. Our kids LOVE swimming, and it's been a great family activity for us. Anyway, she posted something about community pools that about made me gag just reading it (You can read it here: http://themeanestmom.blogspot.com/2009/05/community-pools.html) and even worse than the post is some of the comments like the one that talked about the family that probably didn't bathe at all and probably used the summer swimming months as their bath. GROSS!

Anyway, I'm trying not to let it influence my goal to take my kids swimming much more this summer since they love it. I'm trying to be a fun mom and have activities planned for the sake of us all. And if I thought Michael read my blog I wouldn't post this because he might not let us go anymore after reading this.

Facebook Friends?

So, my kiddos are napping after church. We've had a project going on outside and we've been up late every night and it SHOWED during church with all of us having a meltdown in church today. Ok, Michael and I weren't crying on the outside, but we were on the inside.

I don't know if this belongs here on my blog, but here goes... my kids are asleep, I'm done with my books and magazine... and I'm bored.

So, I've had a couple of weird facebook friend experiences. Friend requests from the weirdest of places... childhood friends, who moved away in KINDERGARTEN after their parents were divorced. Then finding me, requesting my friendship... me ignoring it (rude I know) and then REQUESTING IT AGAIN... me accepting it and then telling me that I look exactly the same as I did in kindergarten. (I should certainly hope I don't.)

Then, the friendship request from another person who I did go to elementary school with and kind of disappeared from my memory from then on (although I'm pretty sure she went to jr high and high school with me but I have no recollection of her at all). Requesting multiple times to be my friend (after again, me being rude and declining the requests) and then nothing. I thought, she's seeking me out for some reason... but then no message, nothing. huh.

The weirdest is when I have seen a facebook friends.... at Target for example this weekend (bizarre by the way, I haven't seen her since highschool, a LONG time ago, and then see her out of the blue) ... and she walks past me, and I walk past her... and neither of us say hi. Maybe she didn't recognize me, but I recognize her... and I HAVE the same face as in kindergarten right, so I should be recognizable. And we are facebook friends, right?!

I could go on about my facebook rant... but I wont. Maybe someday if my blog goes private (which I should probably do, but I think is a pain, but might someday).

But I don't understand the dynamics of it.

Preschool Graduation!

Sam had his preschool graduation last night. It was really fun to see what they've been working on in preschool (especially since most of the time all I can get out of Sam is who brought the snack and what it was). Here's a short video of one of the songs. All of them were cute and I just had to decide which one to post. Plus, for some reason the video doesn't transfer as well to blogger, the quality isn't as good as it is on my computer and it's choppy. But you get the picture. It was a really cute program.

No more shopping...

Today was the last official day of preschool for Sam. I'm sad. I hope this doesn't reflect on what kind of mom I am. Sam loves preschool and his teacher is great.

But what I have thoroughly enjoyed about preschool is this:

Shopping with just one kiddo.

I've mentioned this before, but usually when Sam is off to preschool Kate will turn to me and say "Let's go shopping Mom." And I have obliged.

Father and Sons Campout

Posted by Picasa
Sam has been looking forward to... and counting down to this weekend since Michael told him about it. He'd wake up and say "7 more days until fishing!" Well, the morning of, he came into my room all dressed and with a big bag packed full of stuff ready to go. I told him he had to wait until Daddy got home from work before they could go. Needless to say, it was a long day of waiting for him.
Some of his highlights:
Fishing with his very own fishing pole, and catching, 8, 10, 12, 13 fish (the number keeps on going up like a true fisherman).
Spending time with daddy. When asked upon returning home if they'd had lunch. Michael responds to "no" but then Sam wont eat anything. Hmmm..... "Well, we did stop for shakes." (Any time with daddy usually involves ice cream).
Sleeping in the gray van! Sam LOVES this gray van, and this is always a highlight of the trip for him. One of the best parts is there's no air bags so he get to ride up front with Dad.

Tiny Dancers

LeeAnn came over and we watched Bride Wars. During it there's a bachelorette party and they go to a place with.. um... dancing. Katelyn jumped right up and started dancing, and Sophie joined in. Here's some video.

This is of them both together...

This is just Sophie.

And then Kate...

"Mom's, Momentos, Muffins and Massages... and MORE!

On Friday we went on a date for Mother's Day. Michael brought me home these beautiful flowers. LeeAnn was super nice and watched our kids while we went to dinner and a movie. We ate at Zuppas (a soup, sandwich and salad place). We both got soup and sandwich. The sandwiches were ok. I really liked the soup (I got the cauliflower - if you ever go).
On Saturday, the kids and I went to probably the cutest primary activity I have ever been to. It was called "Mom's, Momentos, Muffins and Massages" Where we did just that.

The kids made me this cute dish rag, Sam's hands are blue and Kate's hands are the red. Then we went to a different room where they had muffins and fruit. In the corner of the room there was mood music playing and my kids thought it was perfect. They thought it was for dancing. (I didn't take my camera, so these are from my cell).

And then we went to another room where the lights were dimmed with soft couches, mood music and lotion so the kids could give me hand and foot massages. Which they did for maybe a minute until I was totally greasy with lotion. And then they focused on themselves...

While we were away at the Primary activity. Michael had rented a sod cutter and cut out the sod on the side of our house (we're going to pour cement). Nothing like good hard manual labor to take your mind off of the stressful Mother's Day talk he had to give in Sacrament Meeting. He did a great job!

While he was still working, since we were just in the way. We made our way up to Grandpa's house where there were cousins for Sam to play with and I hardly saw him. And Kate (who is almost always by my side) and I picked dandelions for the horses to eat.

Sunday night we went up to Kaysville to Grandma and Grandpa's house, where I hardly saw the kids at all there either because of cousins to play with, and we had dinner and visited.
It was a great weekend.

Lauren's Dance Recital

Katelyn and I went to Lauren's dance recital on Saturday. It was so fun, and Lauren did an amazing job. Katelyn was sooo excited to go. The whole way over there she kept on saying "I'm so excited for Lauren's dance." But I think she misunderstood and thought she was going to go and dance with Lauren. Then during all of the dances she'd say "Where's my Lauren?"
You can hear her asking to go up and dance with them a little bit at the beginning of this video.
Katelyn likes watching it over and over again, I had to take video to show
Sam because we went to her dance recital last year and he talks about it all the time and when the song she danced to comes on the radio he will say "That's Lauren's dance!" So when he watches the video, he will say "Wow, that was perfect." I wish I had a bigger memory card so I could have gotten some of Lauren's other dances on it. They were all so fun to watch.
I hope Lauren and Jordan don't mind me posting this video of them dancing. It is a sweet daddy daughter dance and they both did such a great job, and I know those who weren't able to come to the recital would love to see it.
