Cat and Mouse...

We usually check on our kids before we go to bed ourselves. Michael did it last night and told me I needed to go in and look at Katelyn. I went in there and this is what I found....She had gone to bed with her kitty, and unzipped her jammies and tucked her kitty inside. I thought it was just too funny. I took the kitty out and zipped up her jammies after I took the picture. I didn't turn on the light, the room was dark and that's what it looked like with the flash. Cool huh?

I've heard people say that having an only child is like child abuse... and with Sam, that would have been the case. He goes crazy when Kate's taking a nap (like right now). He'd rather just sit next to me and stare at the computer than go and play by himself. The other day Michael was watching him, and he said with a very serious face: "How come you're looking at me. Is it because I'm awesome?" I started smiling, which he immediately started to get self conscious and didn't want me laughing at him. I wasn't laughing at him, I was smiling at him... because he hit it right on the head, because he's awesome.

Temple Open House

We went to the Draper Temple Open House on Saturday. It was such a beautiful temple. It was a "small" temple. My sister had gone a week or two before and at the time I thought "we're not going" because I thought it would be long and the kids would have a hard time. But, the kids talk about the temple and Kate loves singing "I Love to See the Temple" so, we did it. I'm glad we did.
When we first got there we were seated in the gym until it was our turn to go and watch a little 12 minute video. Katelyn kind of has two volumes, normal and loud. During the video she says loudly "I can't see because of that boy" (which was a man in front of us) I was hoping no one would hear... but he started ducking in the other direction. I was wondering how much of the video was sinking in... and then after the video she said loudly "We can be a family now!" I've been trying to work on whispering with her, but she usually just breathes loudly in my ear.
Then we went and got on a bus and it took us up to the temple.

Sam was a little disappointed at first because he was under the impression that we were actually going to see Jesus and Heavenly Father, since it is their house. Inside it got a little long for him, but he LOVED the pamphlet they gave out and he would refer to it as his "temple map."Afterwards everyone went to the new church that shares a parking lot with the temple... and it was BEAUTIFUL. They had music playing and refreshments, they had cookies and water. Here are the kids standing in front of one of the walls.

I asked the kids what their favorite part about the temple was and Katelyn said, "The bus!" Sam said "All of it" but I think it was the pamphlet they gave him. Anyway, it was fun... if you have a chance to go, I think you should. It was a nice experience.

What we did this week... Valentine's Day, President's Day...

We've had a good weekend. I love 3 day weekends even though they throw my entire week off... (Monday nights I'll be thinking of what we need for church the next day and thinking Michael will be home one more day)
Sam has been so funny lately, and I just picked up his Kindergarten registration packet and I can't believe I almost have a kindergartener! Ever since our anniversary Sam has been concerned with who he is going to marry. He kept on asking me, "Well, who can I marry?" I told him that he didn't need to decide right then, but it needed to be a girl and they couldn't be related to you, meaning no cousins or sisters. So, Sam said "I'll marry X." Well, I left it at that and the subject got changed (or more likely the kids started fighting - seems like that is happening a lot lately). So this week Sam brought it back up again, he said "I don't know who I am going to marry... X wont." (I guess he must have asked her - I wish I was there when he'd asked her). He seemed sad, and wanted to know who he could. So, I said, "Who is your friend that is a girl?" and he said "Well, there's Y, but I dont want her" So, I started suggesting names of cute little girls we know... and he scrunched up his nose and said, "nahh" Funny that he's so serious about this...
Sam was really impressed with Valentine's Day. He got home from his preschool Valentine's party with loads of candy... it's like Halloween! Then Grandpa brought by a bag full of loot for the kids for Valentine's Day... Sam thought it should keep on coming!

We also got a babysitter and went on a date... KIDLESS. Which was a highlight for the kids AND us. We went and saw Coraline in 3D which was awesome to see... if you go, you should definitely do the 3D. Anyway, I don't think Michael liked it. I think it would be too scary for my kids for a while though.
On President's Day we went to see Bolt at the dollar theater with my brother and his kids. That show is funny, and both of my kids loved it... and loved spending time with their cousins and their uncle who spoils them with gum. It was a fun weekend!

Groundhog's Day

It was just Groundhog's Day... which is fitting, because I feel like I have been living in Groundhog's Day (the movie... for any of those who've seen it, the guy lives the same day over and over and over again.) It's this winter weather, I can't stand it anymore! I'm ready for spring.
So, nothing is new with us. Well, not nothing, just the usual. My sister sent this video to me, and I thought it was fitting. It made me smile.

and while I saw that video... I saw the other song I mentioned in an earlier post... so if you want to you can watch that one as well:

As for Groundhog's Day... that's our anniversary. Happy anniversary to us. Michael's busy time so we didn't do anything... but he did bring home take-out which was great because I didn't have to make dinner, and he was actually home to eat it with us.

The cute kid thing of the week was when Sam came up to me said, "When am I going to get lucky underwear?" (He was watching Stewart Little, and the dad says to the boy, "Do you have your lucky underwear on?") I had to smile. I want some lucky underwear too.
